WELCOME
------------------------------------------------------------
I need my head examined! I suppose that it's not that
hard to cobble up some sort of passable article about cigars
that might be interesting, but its quite another to do this
on
an ongoing basis. I've seen so many newsletters start with
good intentions only to wither on the vine. Then I said
"so what, get your oar in the water and knock off a couple
of
articles". Maybe someone out there in cigar land will
glean
some useful tidbit out of the gabblefarb. Gosh maybe
someone may even offer some encouragement. Besides I can sit
in my office smoke cigars, type this stuff, and tell my wife
I'm working. In any event I'm fully prepared for a flood of
"unsubscribe" requests.
In keeping with our 5 year plan we decided not to renew
the lease on our retail premises and concentrate on the mail
order and internet business.
Lets put it another way, the Cabin is dead, burned down,
demolished, imploded ----- its closed baby!!
It wasn't an easy decision. I'll miss the personal interaction
with our customers.
The Phoenix has risen - welcome to Ajax Cigars.

Hi to all of the gang who have supported the old Cabin
Fever for so many years - thank you. Hello and welcome to
our new customers who found Ajax in the vast internet maze.
I hope the web site is working to every bodies satisfaction.
Any problems, recommendations, or glitches, please contact
us.
Last but not least, please call. I really don't care if
it's an order, question or just to renew old times.
The number is still 1-800-711-1156.

FEATURE ARTICLE - BRAND CLASSIFICATION
------------------------------------------------------------
There
are many perceptions about how to determine the
strength of a Cuban cigar. Often people look to the wrapper
for the answer. This method is misleading.
Wrappers
are only about 1% of the total cigar, so a
dark wrapper will have little, if any effect, on the strength
of the Cuban cigar. This is contrary to what many of you know
from your experiences with other cigars where strong dark
Maduro
wrapper leaves are used to enhance the flavor and strength
of
non Cuban cigars.
So
how can you tell the strength of the a cigar without
lighting it? Well, its in the name!
Cuban
Brands are designed with their own particular
flavors and strengths, with a variety of leaves taken from
different Cuban tobacco plants making up their individual
characteristics.
Here's
a handy guide.
The
Cuban Brands are classified as follows:
Refined - Extra Flavor
Cohiba
Trinidad
Strong - Full Flavor
Bolivar
Cuaba
Partagas
Por Larranaga
Medium Strength - Medium Flavor
Diplomaticos
Fonseca
Flor de Cano
H. Upmann
Jose L. Piedra
Juan Lopez
La Gloria Cubana
Montecristo
Quintero
Rafael Gonzales
Romeo y Julieta
San Cristobal
Sancho Panza
Vegas Robaina
Vegueros
Mild
Strength - Mild Flavor
El Rey del Mundo
Hoyo de Monterrey
Quai D'Orsay
Ramone Allones
Saint Luis Rey

INDUSTRY NEWS - CUBAN CIGARILLOS
------------------------------------------------------------
The Cubans are now into the production of cigarillo size
cigars which they call "Minis". All the major brands
have
a line and are available in 100's packaged in boxes of 10
or
20 cigarillos in each. They are a completely natural product
with no flavor enhancement.
Pricing is as follows:
Cohiba $195.00
H. Upmann $150.00
Hoyo de Monterrey $130.00
La Gloria Cubana $125.00
Montecristo $160.00
Partagas $155.00
Romeo y Julieta $155.00
It fills a niche market that has been missing from the
Cuban lineup and provides a crossover product between
cigarettes and cigars.
What do you think to the smaller pleasures in life?
Should we carry the line or not?
I'm looking for feedback here.
*-----------------HOT TIP------------------*
TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
The most important factor in cigar
storage is temperature not humidity.
If the temperature in your humidor rises
over 70 degrees you risk tobacco beetle.
Humidity can vary between 65 and 75%.
Try and keep it fairly constant but there
is no need to get anal about it. I prefer
my humidity closer to 75%.
Remember dryer cigars can be revived.
